Subscale launch success at MDARS

After a long stretch of prep and troubleshooting, the team finally got a subscale launch off on January 3. The MDARS trip marked a big milestone for the vehicle and gave us a real flight-day test of the hardware and launch flow.

The same trip also gave the team a full field-operations rehearsal around the subscale vehicle. Getting the rocket on site, through final checks, and out to the pad at MDARS was a valuable step toward bigger launch campaigns ahead.

Through the Starbase program at the military base in Los Alamitos, the team has been able to use shop machinery to manufacture hardware for both subscale and full-scale launches. A big part of that work has been CNC fabrication for bulkheads and other key components.
